If the urine stain is fresh, start by blotting up as much of the moisture as possible with paper towels or a cloth rag. Apply a small amount of laundry detergent to the spot and gently massage it into the fabric. Let it sit for a few minutes, then use a damp cloth to rinse off detergent and blot dry with a towel.
For old stains, try using white vinegar to break down the proteins in the urine. Simply pour some distilled white vinegar onto the spot and let it soak in for at least 30 minutes. Then apply some liquid laundry detergent and work it into the fabric. Let it sit for a few more minutes before rinsing it off with a damp cloth and blotting dry.
For stubborn stains, make sure you rinse the area with clear water several times to remove any remaining residue. This will also help to prevent discoloration or fading of the fabric caused by the vinegar or detergent.
Keep in mind that you should only spot clean the affected area and never attempt to machine wash the entire item. Doing so could cause the stain to spread and make it harder to remove.
