When you’re out and about in elements, your workwear can come into contact with tree sap, which can become an unsightly and stubborn stain. The good news is that it doesn’t have to be a permanent fixture on your clothing. Here’s how to get rid of those pesky sap stains:
Using a butter knife or another flat tool, gently scrape off any dry residue that remains on fabric. Be sure to use short strokes while scraping in order to avoid damaging the fabric.
Using a damp cloth, begin spot cleaning the area of the sap stain. Start from the outer edges of the stain and work your way inwards. Use a mild detergent solution with the cloth to help loosen the stain from the fabric.
Once you’ve spot cleaned the area, it’s time to soak the clothing in warm water. If stain is particularly stubborn, you can add a few drops of laundry detergent to the water for added cleaning power. Let the garment sit for 15-20 minutes before continuing.
After soaking, launder garment as usual. It may take several washes to completely remove the tree sap stain, so keep an eye on the fabric and continue laundering until the stain is gone.
Before putting your garment in the dryer, check to ensure that the tree sap stain is completely gone. If the stain is still visible, repeat Steps 1-4 before drying.
By following these five easy steps, you’ll be able to quickly and easily remove tree sap stains from your workwear. With a bit of patience and a few simple cleaning techniques, you’ll be able to keep your clothes looking like new!
