The first step in removing tree sap stains from Venetian lace is to identify the stains. Look closely at the fabric and use a magnifying glass if necessary. Tree sap stains will appear as yellowish-brown spots.
Soak a cotton swab with white vinegar and apply it gently to the stained area of the fabric. Allow the vinegar to sit for 10 minutes then rinse it off. Repeat this process several times until the stain is gone.
If the stain remains, you may need to use a dry cleaning solvent. Dip a small brush into solvent and gently brush the stained area. Do not scrub too hard. After the solvent has been applied, blot area with a paper towel.
Repeat steps two and three as necessary. With each pass, the stain should be noticeably lighter. Once it’s gone, rinse the fabric with cool water and allow it to air dry.
With right techniques and materials, tree sap stains on Venetian lace can be removed without causing any damage to the fabric. Follow the steps outlined above and you’ll have your lace looking good as new in no time.
