Tree sap can quickly ruin clothes. It's tacky, sticky and hard to remove from fabrics. However, by using the right methods and materials, you can easily get rid of it.
What you'll need:
- Rubbing alcohol or nail polish remover
- Dish soap
- Oxygen bleach
- Toothbrush
- Cloth or paper towel
- Bucket
Instructions:
- Start by moistening a cloth or paper towel with rubbing alcohol or nail polish remover. Blot the stain with the cloth until the tree sap is removed. Let the area dry.
- If stain remains, mix some dish soap with warm water in a bucket. Dip a toothbrush into the soapy water, then gently scrub the stained area. Let it sit for 15 minutes before rinsing with cold water.
- If stain still persists, dissolve some oxygen bleach in the same soapy water and soak the stained area for at least 30 minutes. Then rinse and let it air-dry.
- Finally, if there are still traces of the tree sap, repeat steps 1 and 2 or use a fabric stain remover specifically designed for removing tree sap.
Tips/Tricks:
- Be sure to test cleaning products on a small, inconspicuous area of the fabric before applying to stain.
- Always remember to wear protective gloves when dealing with solvents or powerful cleaning agents.
- When in doubt, consult care label of your garment for specific cleaning instructions.
