Tree sap stains can occur when a tie comes in contact with an evergreen tree, ruining its appearance. Fortunately, stains don’t have to be permanent. Here’s how to get rid of the tree sap stains from your tie.
Freezing the tie can make removing the sap much easier. Put the tie in a plastic bag and place it in the freezer for one to two hours. This will make the sap hard, so it’s easier to chip away or scrape off.
Once the sap has been frozen, take a butter knife or something similar and gently scrape away the sap from the surface of the tie. Be sure to be careful not to scratch the fabric when removing the sap.
Once you have scraped away as much of the sap as possible, you can begin applying stain remover. Look for a stain remover specifically made for clothing, such as Resolve Oxy or OxiClean. Apply the solution to the stained area and allow it to sit for a few minutes before rinsing with warm water.
Once stain remover has been applied, launder the tie as you normally would, being careful to follow the laundering instructions on the label. After the cycle has finished, check to make sure the stain has been removed. If stain is still present, try repeating steps 2 and 3 before laundering the tie again.
By following these steps, you can easily clean tree sap stains from tie and restore the fabric to its former glory. With a bit of elbow grease and right products, you can have your tie looking good as new.
