What You’ll Need
- A microfiber cloth
- Laundry detergent
- Stain remover
- White vinegar
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Use a dry, soft microfiber cloth to wipe away any excess sap stuck on the swimwear. Avoid rubbing too hard as this could damage the fabric.
- Fill a sink or bathtub with warm water. Add a tablespoon of laundry detergent.
- Submerge the swimwear in the soapy water and leave to soak for around 10 minutes.
- Agitate the fabric periodically to ensure that all areas are completely soaked.
- Rinse off swimwear thoroughly by running warm water over it.
- For tougher stains, use a stain remover. Apply a small amount to the sap stains and follow the instructions on the product packaging.
- In some cases, white vinegar may help to remove stubborn sap stains. Mix a solution of 1 part white vinegar to 4 parts cold water and saturate the areas of the swimwear affected by the sap.
- Leave the swimwear to soak in the solution for at least an hour before using a cloth to gently rub the area.
- Rinse off the swimwear and check to see if the sap stains have been removed.
- Repeat steps 1-9 as necessary.
Additional Tips
- Always check care instructions on your swimwear to make sure it can be machine washed.
- If the swimwear has a delicate fabric or trim, it's best to take it to a professional dry cleaner for advice about how to safely remove tree sap stains.
