Tree sap has a knack for finding its way onto your clothing and swim trunks are no exception. It can be particularly difficult to get rid of once it's stuck there, but we have some tips and tricks to help get it off. These methods should save you time, money, and headaches in the future.
Once you spot the tree sap on your swim trunks, it is important to work quickly. Using a dull knife or spoon, gently scrape off any excess sap from surface of the trunks. It’s important not to use anything sharp, as this can cause damage to the fabric. This process should only take a few minutes.
Create a solution of one-part vinegar to two-parts cool water, using either white vinegar or apple cider vinegar. Submerge the swim trunks in this mixture for up to an hour before rinsing them off with cold water and laying them on a flat surface to dry.
If vinegar doesn't do the job first time, create a solution of laundry detergent and hot water, letting the swim trunks soak in this mixture for up to an hour. Once the swim trunks have soaked, rinse them off with cold water and lay them on a flat surface to dry.
For more stubborn stains, you may need to get a bit more aggressive. Apply a small amount of rubbing alcohol directly to the stain and let it sit for no more than a minute. After that, rinse the swim trunks with cold water and lay them on a flat surface to dry.
Now that you know how to clean tree sap from your swim trunks, you’re ready to hit the beach with confidence. With just a few simple steps and household items, you can get your trunks back to looking like new in no time.
