- Dip an old toothbrush in the soapy water and use it to scrub away the remaining sap stains.
- Once the stains are gone, rinse sweatshirt in plain cold water.
- Allow the garment to air dry. Do not put it in the dryer or iron it as this could make the stains permanently set in.
Using Vinegar for Difficult Stains
If your stains are particularly stubborn, you may need to use a stronger solution. Mix one part white vinegar with two parts water and apply it directly to the stains with a sponge or cloth. Let is sit for about 30 minutes and then rinse it off with cold water.
Additional Tips
- Always test an inconspicuous area of the fabric prior to applying any cleaning products. This will help to ensure that the product won’t cause any color bleeding or other damage.
- If the item is made of wool or a delicate fabric such as silk, take it to a professional cleaner to avoid causing any damage.
