Removing tree sap stains from sundresses can require some patience, but the good news is that it isn’t impossible. In order to get your dress back to its original condition, here are some steps you can take:
The first step is to remove any excess sap. Use a butter knife or plastic spatula to gently scrape away the sap. Do not rub the sap, as this will spread it rather than remove it. Once you’ve scraped away the excess sap, use a damp cloth to wipe away any remaining residue.
Once the excess sap has been removed, you can apply a spot stain remover to area. There are many varieties of spot stain removers available, so be sure to read the instructions carefully before using one. Be sure to test spot stain remover in an inconspicuous area of the dress before applying it to the stained area.
Once you’ve applied the spot stain remover, you’ll need to soak dress in a mixture of warm water and laundry detergent. Let the dress soak for at least half an hour and then rinse it out. Be sure to follow the washing instructions on the dress’s label for the best results.
Once you’ve finished soaking the dress, you’ll need to pretreat the stained area. To do this, apply a small amount of laundry detergent directly to the stain. Let detergent sit on the stain for a few minutes before washing the dress.
Once you’ve finished pretreating the stained area, you can now wash the dress. Be sure to follow the instructions on the dress’s label. After washing the dress, check the stained area to make sure all of the sap has been removed.
