Start by gently scraping away any excess sap still stuck to the sock with a soft brush or cloth. Be sure to be gentle while doing this – too much pressure can make the stain spread out across sock.
Once you have removed any excess sap, apply white vinegar directly to the stain. Allow it to sit for up to 10 minutes, then blot away with a soft cloth. The vinegar will help lift sap from the fabric of the sock.
Next, treat the stain with a laundry detergent designed for tough stains. Dab the detergent on the stain and let it sit for up to 20 minutes. Then, use a soft brush to gently scrub the stain. You may need to repeat this process several times until the stain is gone.
Finally, wash the socks with hot water in your washing machine. Use the hottest water available and select highest setting on your machine. Air dry the socks and inspect them for any remaining tree sap stains.
By following the steps outlined above, you can easily remove tree sap stains from your socks. With a bit of patience and some persistence, your socks will look as good as new in no time.
