Tree sap can be incredibly difficult to remove from clothing, especially if it’s delicate sleepwear material. If you’ve got tree sap stains on your favorite PJs, don’t panic — there are effective methods for removing them. Here’s how:
Removing Tree Sap Stains from Sleepwear
- As soon as possible, gently scrape off any excess sap with a dull knife or spoon.
- Apply oil to the stain and let it sit for a few minutes. Oil helps break up the tree sap and loosen the stain.
- Rub liquid laundry detergent onto the stain until it starts to foam.
- Use a soft cloth to dab stain until the sap is removed. Do not rub!
- In a separate container, mix one part white vinegar and two parts water.
- Soak the stained area in the vinegar mixture for a few minutes.
- Rinse the sleepwear in cold water until all the soap is gone.
- If the stain is still visible, repeat steps 2-7.
Tips for Removing Tree Sap Stains from Sleepwear
- Avoid using hot water when washing stained sleepwear — doing so can cause the stain to set and become impossible to remove.
