What You'll Need

  • A cloth or soft-bristled brush
  • Isopropyl alcohol
  • White vinegar
  • Old toothbrush
  • Can of compressed air/dust remover

Step 1: Soften the Sap with Isopropyl Alcohol

Dampen a cloth with isopropyl alcohol, then dab it onto the sap stain. Allow the alcohol to sit for several minutes until it's softened the sap. This will make it easier to remove in the next step.

Step 2: Gently Loosen or Brush off the Sap

Once the sap is softened, use a soft cloth or a soft-bristled brush to gently loosen or brush off sap. Take care not to rub too hard, as this could damage the delicate dupioni fabric.

Step 3: Treat Any Remaining Stains

If any of the sap has stained the fabric, dampen an old toothbrush with white vinegar and carefully scrub the affected area. Vinegar is an effective natural cleaner and should lift the stain. Once you're done scrubbing, let the fabric dry.

Step 4: Blow Away Any Residue

When the fabric has dried, use a can of compressed air or dust remover to blow away any remaining sap residue. This will give you the best results and help ensure the stain is removed entirely.
