Whenever dealing with a difficult stain, it’s important to act quickly. Start by soaking the fabric in cold water for several minutes. This prevents tree sap from setting too far into the material.
Stir together two parts baking soda and one part warm water until it forms a paste. Apply the paste directly to the tree sap on dupioni, making sure to rub it in evenly.
Let the paste sit on stained area for several hours. This will give paste time to penetrate the fabric, lifting the tree sap.
Rinse the area with cold water, making sure to remove all traces of the paste. Then, blot the area dry with a clean washcloth.
Finish by laundering the dupioni as you usually would. Check the area before removing fabric from the washer and dryer. Repeat Steps 2-5 if stain is still present after laundering.
