What You’ll Need

  • A spray bottle filled with a mild detergent solution
  • Light-colored cotton swabs
  • Soap flakes or an oxygen-based bleach
  • Isopropyl alcohol
  • White vinegar
  • A soft cloth

Step 1: Blot

Use the corner of a soft cloth to gently blot stained area. Be sure not to rub or scrub the fabric as it might cause damage.

Step 2: Spray

Spray stained area with a mild detergent solution made from combining one teaspoon of a mild liquid detergent and two cups of lukewarm water. Allow the solution to sit for five minutes, then continue to Step 3.

Step 3: Soak

Create a cleaning solution by combining one tablespoon of soap flakes or oxygen-based bleach and two cups of warm water. Submerge the stained area in the solution and allow it to soak for fifteen minutes. Once finished, rinse area with cold water and move onto Step 4.

Step 4: Rub

Blot lightly with a soft white cloth to absorb any moisture left on the fabric. Dip a light-colored cotton swab in isopropyl alcohol, then rub stained area. Be sure to use gentle circular motions when rubbing the area.

Step 5: Wash

Fill a small bucket with two gallons of lukewarm water and ¼ cups of white vinegar. Place the fabric into the bucket and allow it to soak for thirty minutes. When finished, gently wring the fabric out, then hang it to air dry. Once dry, inspect the fabric for any remaining sap.
