If you've been wearing your scarf outdoors and have accidentally ended up with a spot of tree sap on it – don't worry! Tree sap can seem like a difficult stain to remove, but there is hope! By following the simple steps below, it should be easy to get that pesky sap off of your beautiful scarf without damaging fabric.
The first step is to take a dull knife, such as a butter knife, and carefully scrape the sap off of the scarf. This step requires some elbow grease, so don't be afraid to apply a little pressure as you scrape. The goal is to get as much of the sap off as possible without doing any damage to the scarf.
After you have scraped off the excess sap, it's time to break out the cleaning supplies. The best way to get tree sap out of the scarf is to use a combination of vinegar and laundry detergent. To make the cleaning solution, mix equal parts vinegar and laundry detergent in a bowl. Then, dip a cloth or sponge into the mixture and gently dab the affected area. Let sit for five minutes before proceeding to step three.
To finish up the process, rinse off the cleaning solution with water and then let the scarf air dry. If the sap stain has not completely disappeared, you may need to repeat steps one and two a few more times until it is fully gone.
