Step 1: Remove Excess Sap

The first step is to remove any excess sap from raincoat. Use a soft bristled brush to gently brush away the chunks of sap. Be careful not to use too much pressure or the garment could be damaged.

Step 2: Create a Vinegar Solution

Mix one part white vinegar with two parts warm water in a bowl. Soak a cloth in the solution and then blot the sap-stained area of the raincoat. Do not rub the fabric as this could spread the stain and make it harder to remove.

Step 3: Apply Rubbing Alcohol

Once the sap-stained area has been soaked in vinegar solution, apply rubbing alcohol directly to the stain. Blot the stain with a cloth soaked in the rubbing alcohol, allowing it to sit for about 10 minutes.

Step 4: Wash and Dry

After the rubbing alcohol soak, wash the raincoat according to the care instructions provided. If necessary, repeat Steps 2-4 until the stain is completely gone. Once it is clean, hang to dry.

Conclusion

Tree sap stains can be difficult to remove, but with a few simple steps, you can successfully get them out of your raincoat. Remember to always follow the instructions on the garment tag when washing and drying the item.
