What You'll Need

  • Lemon or orange juice
  • White vinegar
  • Dishwashing liquid
  • Soft cloths or towels
  • Hairdryer (optional)

Instructions

  1. If there is any excess sap residue, first use something as soft a cloth or towel to remove it without pressing or rubbing the fabric. You may want to let the sap cool down to make it easier to remove.
  2. Mix equal parts lemon or orange juice and white vinegar in a bowl. Dip a soft cloth or towel into the mixture and blot the sap stain with it as many times as necessary.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix a small amount of dishwashing liquid with warm water. Dip a new cloth or towel into soapy mixture and gently rub the sap stain until it starts to lift.
  4. Rinse the stained area with cold water and if necessary, repeat steps 2 and 3 until sap stain is removed.
  5. If the sap stain won’t budge, you can try using a hairdryer set on low heat. Move the dryer back and forth over the stain until the sap melts away.

Tips & Warnings

  • Tip: Do not use hot water when washing the stained area as this could cause the sap to spread and the stain to become more difficult to remove.
  • Warning: Be sure to test the lemon or orange juice and vinegar mixture on a small area of fabric first to make sure it does not damage the fabric or color.
