What You'll Need
- Lemon or orange juice
- White vinegar
- Dishwashing liquid
- Soft cloths or towels
- Hairdryer (optional)
Instructions
- If there is any excess sap residue, first use something as soft a cloth or towel to remove it without pressing or rubbing the fabric. You may want to let the sap cool down to make it easier to remove.
- Mix equal parts lemon or orange juice and white vinegar in a bowl. Dip a soft cloth or towel into the mixture and blot the sap stain with it as many times as necessary.
- In a separate bowl, mix a small amount of dishwashing liquid with warm water. Dip a new cloth or towel into soapy mixture and gently rub the sap stain until it starts to lift.
- Rinse the stained area with cold water and if necessary, repeat steps 2 and 3 until sap stain is removed.
- If the sap stain won’t budge, you can try using a hairdryer set on low heat. Move the dryer back and forth over the stain until the sap melts away.
Tips & Warnings
- Tip: Do not use hot water when washing the stained area as this could cause the sap to spread and the stain to become more difficult to remove.
- Warning: Be sure to test the lemon or orange juice and vinegar mixture on a small area of fabric first to make sure it does not damage the fabric or color.
