Removing Fresh Sap Stains

The best way to approach fresh sap stains on your parka is to first scrape away the sap with a butter knife or a credit card. This will help to prevent the sap from penetrating deep into the fabric. After that, dab some rubbing alcohol on a clean cloth and gently blot the affected area. Make sure to use rubbing alcohol and not just any other type of alcohol. Afterward, use a clean cloth dipped in lukewarm water and then blot the area until it is completely clean.

Removing Dried Sap Stains

Dried sap stains are a bit trickier and may require a bit more effort for removal. Begin by scraping away the sap with a butter knife or a credit card. Then, spray a small amount of WD-40 or Goo Gone onto the affected area. Allow the cleaner to sit for a few minutes before taking a clean cloth and gently blotting the area. Finally, dampen a clean cloth with lukewarm water and blot the area until it is clean.

Other Tips

  • Allow the dampened cloth to sit on the stain for a few minutes before blotting it once again.
  • Make sure to test any cleaning solutions on a hidden part of the parka before applying it directly to the stained area.
  • Avoid using hot water, as this can damage the fabric.
  • If the stain persists, try soaking the parka in a bucket of warm water with a small amount of dish soap for about 30 minutes.
  • For stubborn stains, try using a small amount of nail polish remover on a cotton ball.
