The key to removing tree sap stains from pants successfully lies in taking control and following the right steps. Fortunately, there are a few simple tips you can follow to help you get out of a sticky situation.
Whether you realise it or not, first step involves blotting the sap with a paper towel. As soon as the tree sap stains your pants, grab a clean paper towel and carefully dab it up. This will help absorb any excess sap that wasn’t able to be wiped off.
Next, fill a sink or bucket with cold water and submerge the stained end of your pants. Soak fabric for 10 to 15 minutes to help loosen the sap. Don’t forget to check periodically to make sure the tree sap stain is still visible.
It’s now time to prepare a cleaning solution. The ratio should be one-part dishwashing detergent to two-parts cold water. Mix the ingredients together until they are completely dissolved and apply them directly to the tree sap stain.
With the cleaning solution still applied to stain, use a soft cloth to gently scrub area. Work in a circular motion until entire tree sap stain is gone. If possible, avoid using any harsh bristles as this could cause further damage.
Once you have removed tree sap stain, soak the area in cold water once again. Then, rinse off all of the remaining residue with cold water. Finally, hang the clothing up overnight to air dry.
