What You'll Need

  • Rubbing alcohol
  • Table salt
  • Baking soda
  • Gentle laundry detergent

Step 1: Blot Freshly Spilled Sap

First, use a paper towel or a cloth to blot away any excess sap that may have just spilled on the dress. This will prevent the stain from setting in, and make it much easier to remove.

Step 2: Treat with Rubbing Alcohol

Next, pour rubbing alcohol onto a cloth and blot tree sap stain. The rubbing alcohol helps to break down sap and loosen it up, making it easier to remove.

Step 3: Make a Paste with Salt, Baking Soda and Detergent

Mix table salt, baking soda and a gentle laundry detergent together in a bowl, forming a thick paste. Then, use a cloth to apply the paste onto the sap stain, massaging the paste into the fabric.

Step 4: Rinse and Launder

Rinse the paste off the fabric, ensuring to remove all traces of it from the fabric. Then, machine wash and dry as you normally would.
