The first step to removing tree sap from linen is to soak the stained area in cold water. Take the linen item outside or in kitchen sink, and run cold water until the stained area is soaked. This will help loosen the sap so it’s easier to remove.
Once linen has been soaked, apply a liquid detergent directly to the stained area. Gently scrub the area with a soft cloth or stain brush to work the detergent into the fabric. Let the detergent sit for a few minutes before rinsing it off.
Rinse the detergent off under cold running water. Make sure to rinse it until all of detergent is gone. Don’t forget to check the back side of the linen for any detergent residue. If you find any, rinse that area as well.
Apply some rubbing alcohol directly to the stained area with a clean cloth or brush. Gently rub the area for a few minutes, then rinse it off with cold water. You may need to repeat this process a few times to get rid of the Sap stains.
White vinegar is another great option for removing tree sap from linen. Soak the stained area in white vinegar, then rinse it off. Be sure to rinse it thoroughly, as the vinegary smell can linger otherwise.
After all of the steps are done, let the linen air dry. If possible, hang it in the sun to draw out any remaining stains. Once the linen is completely dry, you can wear it or use it as desired.
