It may seem counter intuitive, but the first step to removing tree sap from lace is to cover the stain with cornstarch. Let it sit for about 10 minutes so the starch can absorb the sap.
Once cornstarch has done its job, wipe away the excess using a lint-free cloth moistened with warm water and a few drops of dish soap. This will help break down the sap, making it easier to remove.
Combine equal parts white vinegar and baking soda and apply to the stained area. The acidic vinegar mixed with the alkaline baking soda will work to neutralize the sap.
Finally, if there are still traces of the stain visible, use a dab of hydrogen peroxide. Be sure to test this on an inconspicuous place before applying to the entire stain.
Tree sap can be a challenge to remove from delicate fabrics, but with the right supplies and knowledge it's doable. Just follow steps above and your lace should be as good as new!
