Tree sap can leave behind stubborn and seemingly permanent stains on fabric. However, there are steps you can take to remove tree sap stains from kimono without damaging the delicate fabric. Start by gently scraping away any hardened sap from the surface of fabric. Use an object with a rounded edge, like the end of a spoon, to gently scrape away at the sap until it comes off in chunks. If you accidentally scrape too hard and cause some fraying or holes, stop scraping immediately and move to the next step.

Next, create a mixture of lukewarm water, laundry detergent, and white vinegar. Dip a soft cloth into the solution and carefully dab the stain until it begins to lift. Do not rub or scrub the stain as this can damage the fabric. Rinse the stained area with plain lukewarm water, then dab it dry with a towel. Repeat this step until the stain has been removed or significantly faded.

If stain still won’t come out, you may need to use a solvent-based cleaner. Test the cleaner on a hidden part of the fabric first, to make sure it won’t cause any discoloration or damage. Then, dip a cloth into cleaning solution and gently dab at the stain. Rinse the area by dipping a clean cloth in plain lukewarm water and dabbing at the fabric. Finally, blot the area with a towel to absorb any excess liquid.

With proper care and attention, you can successfully remove tree sap stains from your kimono. Follow these steps to increase your chances of success and avoid inadvertently damaging the fabric.
