Step 1: Blot Stain

Use paper towels or a soft cloth to gently blot stain. Do not rub or scrub the fabric as this may cause damage. Be sure to use a dry towel to remove as much of the sap as possible.

Step 2: Apply Cleaner

Once you have blotted away excess sap, apply a cleaning solution to the area. You can use a mild laundry detergent, dish soap, vinegar, and water. Mix one teaspoon of detergent or dish soap with a cup of warm water and add a tablespoon of white vinegar. Make sure to test this solution in an inconspicuous spot first. Gently massage the solution into fabric and let it sit for five minutes.

Step 3: Rinse the Soap Solution

Rinse the soap solution off of the fabric with cold water. Blot the area with a dry towel to remove any moisture.

Step 4: Dry the Fabric

Allow the fabric to air dry. Do not use a hair dryer, as this may cause shrinkage or damage to the material.

Step 5: Spot Test

Once the fabric has completely dried, spot test the area with a damp cloth to make sure stain has been removed. If there is still a mark present, repeat steps 1-4 until the stain is gone.

Wrapping Up

Tree sap stains can be a real chore to clean but they don’t have to be if you follow the steps outlined above. With a few simple steps, you can restore your Kate Spade back to its former glory and eliminate unsightly sap stains.
