Removing Sticky Tree Sap from Hermes

  • If the tree sap is still wet, gently scrape off excess sap with a soft cloth or brush. Do not rub or scrub the stain as it may spread.
  • Inspect the fabric for discoloration or damage. If the fabric is delicate or has been weakened by the sap, consult a professional cleaner or reweaving service.
  • For general cleaning, mix one tablespoon of liquid dishwashing detergent with two cups of lukewarm water. Soak a soft cloth in solution and dab the sap stain, being careful not to over-saturate the fabric.
  • Do not rub the stain. Instead, continue to gently dab until the sap is loosened. Rinse thoroughly.
  • If a stain remains, dilute one cup of white vinegar in two cups of warm water. Again, soak a clean cloth in the solution and dab the sap stain until the sap is loosened. Rinse thoroughly.
  • Allow the piece to air dry. Inspect for any remaining stains or discoloration.
  • If the sap stain is still present after drying, repeat steps 1-3.
