Getting tree sap stains off handbags or purses can be challenging. The sap can be very sticky and cling to the fabric of the bag, making it difficult to remove. But don't worry - there are a few easy steps you can take to remove that stubborn tree sap stain from your beloved accessory.
Use a blunt knife or even a credit card to gently scrape away any excess tree sap from the surface of your bag. Be careful not to press too hard and damage the material, as you could end up with a bigger mess to clean. Do your best to remove as much tree sap as possible by this method.
Once you've scraped away all the excess sap, you can apply a dry cleaning solvent like Carbona or K2r to the spot. Use a clean cloth or preferably a Q-tip and dab the solvent onto the stain. Make sure you're gentle and don't rub the stain, as this can cause it to spread and become more challenging to remove.
Once the solvent has been applied, use a clean, damp cloth to blot the stain. Again, be gentle in order to avoid spreading the stain further. After blotting the stain, rinse the cloth in cool water and repeat process until the stain is gone.
Once the stain is gone, use cold water to rinse area and then let it air dry. Do not put the bag in the washing machine as this could lead to water damage or color bleeding.
With these simple steps, you should be able to remove any stubborn tree sap stains from your handbag or purse. Just remember to be patient and to blot, not rub, the stain when applying the solvent.
