Removing Tree Sap Stains with Home Remedies

One of easiest and safest ways to remove tree sap is with a solution of dishwashing liquid and water. To make this solution, mix one part dishwashing liquid with two parts warm water. Stir or shake mixture until it is sudsy. Then, dip a soft cloth into the sudsy water and lightly scrub the stained area of your gloves. This should help break down and lift the sap from the fabric or leather.

If the tree sap still remains on your gloves, you may need to use a stronger solution. An effective mixture for removing stubborn tree sap is one part vinegar to one part vegetable oil. Dab some of the solution onto the stained area, then gently rub the fabric together until the sap loosens. Use a soft cloth to gently wipe away the loosened sap. Finish by rinsing the area with warm water and soap, and let the gloves air dry.

Additional Cleaning Options

If the tree sap has been on your gloves for an extended period of time, you may want to take them to a professional cleaner to have them properly cleaned. Professional cleaners also offer different types of stain-removing solutions, such as solvents, which may be necessary to successfully remove the tree sap and any residue it has left behind.
