What You Need
- Ice cubes
- Hair dryer
- Vinegar
- Rubbing alcohol
- Laundry detergent
- Soft cloth or toothbrush
Instructions
- If the tree sap is still fresh or soft, you can use ice cubes to harden it up. Put garter in a resealable bag and add some ice cubes. Leave it for around 10 minutes until sap hardens.
- Once the sap is hardened, you can use a hair dryer to heat it up. This will make it easier to remove. Just make sure that you don't get too close to the garter so as not to burn or damage it.
- Mix equal parts of vinegar and rubbing alcohol and use this mixture to gently scrub away the sap using a soft cloth or toothbrush. Be careful to do this in a circular motion so as not to damage the fabric.
- Once you have removed all of the sap, rinse the garter with cold water. Then, soak it in a mixture of warm water and laundry detergent for about 30 minutes.
- Finally, rinse the garter with cold water again and hang it up to air dry. It should be free from tree sap stains!
Safety Tips
- Always read the care label before attempting to clean garter. Some fabrics may be damaged by the cleaning agents mentioned above.
- Do not use a scrub brush to remove the sap. It may cause damage to the fabric.
- Be sure to use cold water only when rinsing the garter as hot water may cause the sap to spread.
