If you are in the unfortunate situation of having tree sap on your Duchesse lace, gather what you need before cleaning. This includes a bowl, cold water, white vinegar, a few toothbrushes, liquid detergent or specialized stain remover, and a light-colored cloth.
Make sure to always read care instructions for your particular item and test any cleaning solution you plan to use in an inconspicuous area. Then, fill a bowl with cold water and add 1 tablespoon of white vinegar. Place the stained piece of Duchesse lace inside the mixture and let it sit for 15 minutes.
Gently brush away any residue with one of the toothbrushes. If that doesn't do the trick, dab some detergent or stain remover onto the area and let it sit for five minutes. After that, rinse the lace in cool water, then launder it in accordance with the instructions. If you don't want to machine wash, then use the light-colored cloth and blot the remaining stain until it lifts off.
When all else fails, it is best to seek professional help. Professional dry cleaners know how to handle all sorts of delicate fabrics and can ensure the job will be done properly. This is a more expensive option, however, so try removing the stain yourself first if possible.
