Tree sap stains on drapes and curtains don't have to mean replacing them. With these simple steps, you can make your curtains and draperies look good as new.

Step 1: Rubbing Alcohol

The first thing you will need to do is to use rubbing alcohol on the stain. Pour some rubbing alcohol onto a clean cloth and gently blot at the stain until it begins to fade. Don't rub too hard as this could damage fabric.

Step 2: Soap and Water

Once you have removed as much of the tree sap as possible using the rubbing alcohol, you can then create a solution of soap and water and use a soft brush to scrub the stain until it is gone. Be sure to rinse the area afterwards with cold water and blot dry with a clean cloth.

Step 3: Stain Remover

If you are still unable to remove the tree sap stain, you can use a commercial stain remover designed for fabrics. Be sure to follow the instructions on the label and always test it on a small unseen area first.

Step 4: Laundry Detergent

As a last resort, you can also try using laundry detergent to remove the tree sap stain. Simply create a thick paste with laundry detergent and water and apply it directly to the stain. Then, let it sit for a few hours before blotting away with a damp cloth. Rinse area afterwards with cold water and blot dry with a clean cloth.

Final Steps

After removing tree sap stain, you may want to machine wash your curtains or drapes to make sure all of the soap and detergent are removed. Be sure to follow the instructions on the care label for best results.
