The best way to clean tree sap from coveralls is to start by using an ice cube or ice pack to freeze the sap. This will make it easier to chip away any hardened sap residue. If the sap is still wet, try blotting it with a dry cloth or paper towel.
Once you’ve frozen or blotted away the excess sap, dampen a cloth with warm water and add a dab of laundry detergent. Gently rub the stained area with the soapy cloth to remove the sap residue. If necessary, use a soft brush to work the detergent into the fabric fibers. Rinse the coveralls thoroughly with cool water and then hang them to air dry.
If sap stain is particularly stubborn, you can also try soaking the coveralls in a solution of warm water and one cup of white vinegar. Let the coveralls soak in the solution for 15-20 minutes before washing them as usual. The vinegar will help to break down the sap and make it easier to remove.
Finally, for really tough stains, rub some rubbing alcohol into the sap before rinsing it with warm water. The alcohol will help loosen the sap and make it easier to remove.
To prevent tree sap from ruining your work coveralls, keep them away from trees and other plants that produce sap. It’s also a good idea to wear protective gear when working near trees, such as gloves, goggles, and hats.
