Tree sap stains can be hard to remove from clothing, but it is possible to tackle them with the right techniques. If you’ve got tree sap on cotton poplin fabric, like a shirt or dress, here are some easy steps to help you clean them up.
Using a butter knife or plastic scraper, carefully remove any excess solids from the stained fabric. Try not to rub the fabric too much, as this may cause the sap to spread further.
Mix a solution of one part rubbing alcohol and one part laundry detergent. Apply it to the stained areas using a soft cloth, and let it sit for a few minutes.
Rinse the fabric with cold water. If the stain has not yet faded, repeat steps 2 and 3 until stain is gone.
Once the stain has been removed, lay the item flat to dry. Do not wring or twist the fabric, as this may cause the tree sap to spread.
