Removing Tree Sap from Cotton Oxford Shirts
- Put your shirt in the freezer overnight. This will cause the sap to harden and become brittle.
- Once sap is hardened, use a butter knife or spoon to break off as much of the hardened sap as possible.
- If necessary, warm a corner of a cloth with a hairdryer and place it over the sap stain. This will soften the sap once again, and make it easier to scrape off.
- Using a clean cloth and some rubbing alcohol, gently blot and rub the sap stain until it is removed.
- Wash the shirt to remove any remaining residue and then hang dry.
Preventing Tree Sap Stains
- Where possible, avoid wearing cotton oxford around trees.
- If you can’t avoid it, always wear a hat or other protective headgear.
- If you do find yourself with a sap stain, act quickly and don’t let it dry.
