Tree sap can be a real nuisance when it comes to clothing, carpets, and other fabric materials. Cornelli lace is no exception; this delicate material can quickly become stained and look unsightly. Fortunately, there are a few steps you can take to remove the sap and restore your lace to its former glory.
Before you attempt to remove the sap stain, it’s important to prepare a cleaning solution. Mix together one tablespoon of laundry detergent and two tablespoons of white vinegar with one cup of warm water. This solution will act as an effective cleaning agent for the sap-stained Cornelli lace.
Before you clean the entire garment, you should always test the cleaning solution on a small, hidden area of the lace. This will ensure the cleaning solution does not cause any discoloration or damage to the lace itself.
Once you have tested the cleaning solution and determined it is safe to use, you can soak the entire Cornelli lace item in the solution. Allow the lace to soak for at least 10 minutes.
After the lace has soaked in the cleaning solution, gently scrub area of stain with a soft cloth or toothbrush. This should break up the stain and allow it to be more easily removed.
Once stain has been gently scrubbed, rinse the entire item under warm running water. You may need to repeat steps 3-4 a few times for stubborn stains.
Once you’ve removed as much of the stain as possible, allow the Cornelli lace item to air dry. Do not machine dry the item, as the heat from the dryer could cause sap to permanently set into the fabric.
