Gather Materials

To start, you'll need some supplies to help you remove the sap:

  • pine-sol or dish detergent
  • a damp cloth
  • a spoon
  • one cup of white vinegar
  • a bowl
  • baking soda

Directions

Step 1

Using a spoon, carefully scrape away as much of sap as possible. Don't rub the material; this could damage the fibers in the fabric and make the stain worse.

Step 2

Mix one cup of white vinegar and one cup of warm water in a bowl. Dip a clean cloth into the mixture, wring it out, and blot the affected area. This should help to break down the sap and make it easier to remove.

Step 3

Mix one tablespoon of pine-sol or dish detergent with two cups of warm water in a separate bowl. Dip a clean cloth into solution and scrub the area. Rinse cloth and continue scrubbing until the sap is gone.

Step 4

If the sap is still visible, mix one tablespoon of baking soda with two cups of warm water in a bowl. Dip a clean cloth into the mixture and blot the area. This should help to lift any remaining sap residue.

Step 5

Finally, rinse the area with cold water to remove any soap residue and allow the dress to air dry.

Conclusion

Removing tree sap from your cocktail dress doesn't have to be difficult. With the right materials and a little bit of elbow grease, you can easily restore your outfit to its original state.
