Accidentally getting tree sap on your clothes is just part of life, especially when you’re out camping or hiking in the woods. You might think the stain will never come out, but with right techniques and products, you can protect your chinos and keep them looking good.
If possible, put the garment in the freezer right away. This won’t completely remove sap, but it will harden it and make removing it easier.
Once the sap has hardened, use an old credit card or other plastic scraping tool to carefully remove as much of the sap as possible. Try not to rub too hard as this may spread the stain.
Gently dab rubbing alcohol or turpentine on the stain and wait for about 5 minutes. Then, use a soft cloth to gently rub the area and clean off the sap. Keep repeating until stain is removed.
After you’ve removed the sap, machine wash and dry the garment according to the instructions on the label. If the sap stain doesn’t completely come out, repeat steps 2 and 3 before throwing the chinos in the washing machine.
Tree sap is one of the most stubborn stains to remove, but with these simple steps, you can protect your chinos and keep them looking good. Follow these steps to quickly and easily remove unsightly tree sap stains.
