The first step to removing the tree sap stain is to freeze the affected area. Fill an ice cube tray with water and place it in the freezer for about an hour. Once the cubes are frozen, take one out and wrap it in a cloth or paper towel. Then, press the wrapped ice cube onto the stained area of the chiffon georgette fabric for about 10 minutes. This will help make the sap solidify, making it easier to scrape off.
After allowing ice cube to sit on the stained area for 10 minutes, take a plastic knife or credit card and use it to scrape off the solidified sap. Be sure not to dig too deep into the fabric as this could cause damage. You may need to repeat this process several times to completely remove stain.
Once you’ve removed as much of the sap as you can with the plastic knife, then it’s time to apply a cleaning solution. Mix together 1 part dish soap with 4 parts cold water. Dip a clean cloth into the mixture, then gently dab at stained area. Avoid rubbing the area as this may cause the stain to spread.
Finally, launder the item according to the care label instructions. Be sure to use a mild detergent and cold water setting to avoid damaging the fabric. Always air dry your chiffon georgette clothing. If necessary, you can also spot-clean any remaining sap stains before drying.
