The first step in the process is to identify the affected area. If the sap is fresh and still wet, try to soak up as much of it as possible by blotting it with a paper towel or wiping it away with a specially treated cloth.
Once the sap has been removed, you can use a detergent solution composed of one part dish soap and two parts cold water. Dip a clean white cloth in the solution and begin blotting the sap stain. Be sure to move in an up and down motion to avoid scrubbing or rubbing the stain, which could make stain worse. Once the stain has been lifted, rinse the area with cold water, then dab area dry with a clean towel.
If the sap stain is stubborn, try soaking fabric in a mixture of hot water and laundry detergent for 30 minutes before washing. This should help loosen the sap and make it easier to remove. After soaking, launder fabric using cold water. Do NOT add bleach to the cycle. To ensure the sap is completely removed, inspect the fabric after the wash cycle is complete.
Finally, if the sap has already dried and crusted on the fabric, try a dry-cleaning solution meant for delicate fabrics. Apply dry cleaner to affected area, wait for 30 minutes, then launder the garment as usual.
By following these simple steps, you can easily remove tree sap stains from charmeuse fabric. Just remember to be gentle and not to rub or scrub fabric too hard, and you should be able to erase the stain from your clothing in no time!
