One of the most common stains to find on a chambray garment is from the sticky residue of tree sap. If you’ve got a chambray shirt, blouse or dress that’s been tainted by tree sap, don’t worry – you can get it out with a little patience and some simple steps.
The first step to removing tree sap from chambray is to freeze the fabric. Put the garment in a plastic bag and put it in the freezer for 2-3 hours. The cold temperature will help to harden the sap, making it easier to remove.
Once the sap has hardened, you can use a dull knife or the back of a spoon to scrape away the hardened sap. Take care not to damage the fabric as you scrape away. You may need to repeat this process several times until all the sap is removed.
Once the sap has been removed, you can wash your chambray garment as normal. Make sure to read the care instructions before washing. Take care not to dry the fabric until stain has been completely removed, as the heat from the dryer could set the stain.
For any remaining tree sap stains, you can use a pre-treating liquid. Squeeze a small amount of pre-treating liquid directly onto the stained area and rub it in gently. Let it sit for a few minutes before washing the garment again. This should help to remove any remaining tree sap stains.
Tree sap stains can be difficult to remove from chambray garments, but with a few simple steps you can easily restore your favorite piece of clothing. With a little time and patience, you can have your chambray garment looking good as new.
