What You'll Need

  • Soft-bristle brush
  • White vinegar
  • Baking soda
  • Dish soap
  • Cloth towels

Step 1: Gently Brush Away Any Excess

If there is any excess residue from the tree sap on your fabric, use a soft-bristle brush to carefully brush away the particles.

Step 2: Make a Vinegar Solution

Mix one part white vinegar with two parts water in a bowl. Dip a cloth towel into mixture and then wring it out, so it's damp but not wet.

Step 3: Apply The Vinegar Solution

Gently dab the damp cloth onto the stained area, making sure that vinegar solution is thoroughly saturating the surface of the fabric.

Step 4: Let The Solution Sit

Let the vinegar sit on the surface of the fabric for several minutes. This will help soften and lift the tree sap from the fabric.

Step 5: Rinse Thoroughly

Rinse the area with warm water. You may need to do this several times until all traces of the vinegar solution are gone.

Step 6: Scrub With Baking Soda and Soap

Make a paste by mixing three parts baking soda with one part dish soap. Using a soft-bristle brush, scrub the area with the paste and rinse with warm water. This will help lift any remaining stains from fabric.

Step 7: Air Dry

Finally, hang fabric to air dry. Your broomstick lace should be stain-free when it dries.
