The fastest way to remove tree sap from your blazer is to freeze it. Since tree sap is so sticky, freezing it will make it easier to scrape off. Stick your blazer in the freezer for 2-3 hours before removing it and scraping off the tree sap with a butter knife or credit card. The frozen tree sap should come off in chunks and leave minimal residue.
If freezing the tree sap doesn't work, you can also use a dry cleaning solvent to remove it. Be sure to read the labels carefully, as some solvents may not be safe to use on certain fabrics. Put a few drops of solvent onto a clean, white cloth and dab it onto tree sap. Dab gently so that you don't damage the fabric. If a few stubborn spots remain, use an old toothbrush to scrub them off.
For fabrics that cannot be dry-cleaned, you can try using a mixture of warm water and mild detergent. Mix one teaspoon of detergent with two cups of warm water and dip a clean cloth into the solution. Dab the cloth onto the tree sap stain and blot it until the stain is gone. Rinse the area with warm water and allow it to air dry.
The best way to avoid tree sap stains is to wear your blazer when you're outdoors. This will help prevent the tree sap from coming in contact with the fabric. You should also avoid storing your blazer near areas where sap may be present, such as trees or other foliage.
Tree sap can be a nuisance to remove from your blazer, but with the right cleaning techniques, you can get rid of those pesky stains and maintain your blazer’s original look. Remember to freeze sap first if possible, and always read the product labels carefully when using cleaning solvents.
