Get Rid of Tree Sap Stains on Banana Republic Clothing Quickly & Easily
Tree sap can be a difficult mess to clean off of clothing, especially delicate pieces like those from Banana Republic. Fortunately, it doesn’t have to be a battle – with the right steps, you can easily and effectively remove any tree sap stains from your Banana Republic items.

What You’ll Need
- A clean white cloth
- Paper towels or a few layers of clean newspaper
- Rubbing alcohol
- A mild liquid laundry detergent
- White vinegar
- Olive oil
- A stain remover specifically designed to remove sap (optional)
Step-by-Step Directions
- Cover stained area of fabric with paper towels or newspaper.
- Pour a generous amount of rubbing alcohol onto your clean white cloth, then gently dab at the stain.
- Mix a solution of detergent, vinegar and water, and apply it to the stained area. Let it sit for 15 minutes before scrubbing it in using a toothbrush and cold water.
- If the stain persists, combine a small amount each of olive oil and dish soap, then scrub it into the stain. Rinse it with cold water.
- Let the item air dry, then inspect the stain. If it's still there, try a commercial stain remover designed to remove tree sap.
Tips & Tricks
- If you don't have rubbing alcohol, you can also try using nail polish remover on the stain.
- Don't use hot water when trying to remove a tree sap stain, as this will cause it to set.
- Test any cleaning solution on an inconspicuous area of the garment first to ensure it won't cause discoloration or damage.
- Follow care instructions on clothing tag to determine if it can be washed in a machine or if it needs to be hand-washed.
