If you find yourself with tree sap on your ballet flats, here’s what to do:

  1. If tree sap is still wet and gooey, gently scrape off as much as possible with a butter knife. Be careful not to press too hard or you may risk scratching the fabric of your shoes.
  2. Grab a few cotton swabs or a soft cloth and dip it in rubbing alcohol. Rub the sap stain gently until it comes off. Continue this process until the stain is completely gone.
  3. Once you’ve removed sap, use a little bit of saddle soap to spot treat any areas where the sap had been. Leave it on for several minutes before wiping off with a clean cloth.
  4. Finish off by cleaning the entire shoe with a little bit of saddle soap. Make sure to cover every area so there are no missed spots.
  5. When everything is dry, you are ready to rock your cleanly-restored ballet flats!

With just a few simple steps, you can successfully remove tree sap stains from your ballet flats and get them looking like new again.
