The first step to removing tree sap from a ball gown is to try to scrape off as much of the sap as possible with a soft brush. Make sure to do this gently so as not to damage the fabric. You can also use a vacuum cleaner to remove any remaining sap.
Once you have removed as much of the sap as you can, it’s time to move on to cleaning the stain. Depending on the fabric, you may need to use a gentle soap and water solution to remove stain. Apply the solution gently and use a soft brush to rub the stain in a circular motion. Rinse off soap solution with cold water and check to see if the stain has been removed.
If the sap stain remains despite using soap and water, you may need to use a stronger cleaning solution such as rubbing alcohol or a mild bleach solution. Apply the solution to the stain and rub gently with a soft brush. Again, make sure to rinse off the solution with cold water and check if the stain has been removed.
Once you are sure the stain is gone, you can give your ball gown a final rinse in cold water and hang it up to dry. Be sure to check for any remaining stains before wearing your gown.
