What You'll Need
- Rubbing alcohol
- Dish soap
- Baking soda
- Vinegar
- Cotton swab
How to Clean Tree Sap Stains from Accessories
- Soak the affected area in rubbing alcohol for at least an hour. This will help loosen the sap.
- Mix together a solution of one part dish soap and three parts warm water. Dip a cotton swab in solution and blot the area gently, rinsing the swab as needed. Don’t rub, as this can cause the sap to spread.
- Make a paste of baking soda and vinegar then carefully apply it to the affected area. Allow the paste to dry before brushing it off with a soft cloth.
- Repeat the process until the stain is completely gone. If necessary, use a toothbrush to scrub away any remaining sap.
Prevention Tips
- When you’re out in the woods, pay attention to where you’re walking and try to avoid any trees with sap seeping out of them.
- If possible, wear gloves or long sleeves when out in the woods.
- Check your clothing and accessories regularly for sap stains.
