Step 1: Blot the Stain

The first step in removing the toothpaste stain is to begin by gently blotting the stained area with a damp cloth. This will help to lift some of the excess toothpaste residue.

Step 2: Apply a Detergent Solution

Mix a solution of 1 teaspoon of mild detergent with 1 cup of water. Moisten a clean white cloth with this solution and blot the stained area. Do not rub stain. Continue to blot until the stain lifts. Be sure to rinse out cloth regularly to avoid redepositing toothpaste onto the fabric.

Step 3: Rinse the Fabric

Rinse the fabric by pouring a gentle stream of cool water directly over it. If possible, you can also submerge the fabric in a bowl of cool clean water. Rub and swish the fabric around in water. Once all of the detergent has been rinsed out, lift the fabric out of the water and press out any excess fluid.

Step 4: Blot the Fabric Dry

To remove remaining moisture after rinsing fabric, use a clean dry cloth to blot the area gently. Do not rub or scrub the area as this may cause further damage to the fabric.

Step 5: Air Dry the Fabric

Lay the fabric on a flat surface and allow it to air dry naturally. Avoid placing the fabric in direct sunlight as this may cause fading.

Step 6: Launder Fabric

After the fabric has dried, launder it as usual. Read the care label on the garment to determine the proper washing procedure.
