Begin by gathering the materials needed to properly clean the toy. You'll need a soft cloth, a cleaner specifically designed for cleaning toys, rubbing alcohol, and a damp cloth. This should cover all your bases in removing the stain.
Before applying any solution to the entire toy, spot-test in an inconspicuous area. This will ensure that cleaner you plan on using won't cause any further damage or discoloration. If the spot-test is successful, then you can move on to the actual cleaning.
Gently apply the cleaner to the affected area. Let it sit for around five minutes to allow it to break down the stain and make it easier to remove. If the area is especially tough, then allowing the cleaner to sit for a bit longer is recommended.
Take the soft cloth and gently wipe away stain. If the stain doesn't go away completely on its first try, re-apply the cleaner and wait for another five minutes before wiping again. Repeat this step until the stain has been removed.
Once the stain has been removed, you'll want to disinfect area to make sure any bacteria has been eliminated. Use the rubbing alcohol and the damp cloth to do so. Allow the area to air out until it is completely dry.
Cleaning up toothpaste stains from toys may seem like a daunting task, but it's really quite simple. Just follow these steps and you'll have your toys looking good as new in no time.
