Step 1: Blot the Stain with a Clean Cloth

To begin, take a clean, damp cloth and blot the stained area to remove as much of the toothpaste residue as possible. This step is important to prevent the toothpaste from spreading over a larger area.

Step 2: Prepare a Detergent Solution

Mix a solution of two teaspoons of laundry detergent with one gallon of warm water. If the stain has dried, mix a paste with one teaspoon of cream of tartar and a few drops of lemon juice.

Step 3: Apply the Solution to the Stain

Using a clean cloth or soft-bristled brush, apply the detergent solution to the stain. If the paste was prepared, add the paste to the stain and rub it gently into fabric in a circular motion.

Step 4: Rinse Area and Repeat Steps as Necessary

Once detergent or paste has been applied to stain, rinse the area with cold water. If the stain remains, repeat steps as necessary until it is gone.
