Toothpastes contain abrasive ingredients that burn deep into fabric fibres and leave a tough stain to remove. But don't fret, with a few simple steps you can easily get rid of it completely. Follow these steps and banish your toothpaste stains in no time:
Before washing and cleaning the garment, pre-treat the area with a stain remover. Spray or dab the remover directly onto the toothpaste stain and let it sit for at least 5 minutes before proceeding with step 2.
After treating the stain with a remover, soak the t-shirt in cold water for 15–20 minutes. This will help loosen stain and make it easier to remove.
Once the t-shirt has been soaked in cold water, it is time to scrub and wash. Use a soft-bristled brush or toothbrush to gently scrub the stained area. If the stain has loosened sufficiently, then you can proceed to the next step.
Rinse the t-shirt thoroughly and then soak it again in a sink or tub filled with cold water and laundry detergent. Let the t-shirt sit for 15–20 minutes to allow the detergent to fully penetrate the fabric and work its magic.
Finally, launder stained t-shirt normally with other similarly-coloured clothing items. Once the cycle is finished, hang the shirt on a clothesline or in a well-ventilated area to avoid dirt and dust from settling on it. This will help to keep the stain from returning.
And that's it! Follow these simple steps and you will have your t-shirt free from toothpaste stains in no time.
