Luckily there are simple steps that you can take to restore your silky clothing and remove the toothpaste stains. So, if you want to keep your clothes looking their best, read on! Here’s how to clean toothpaste stains from silk crepe de chine:
Start by carefully scooping off any excess toothpaste with the edge of a spoon. Make sure you are gentle and do not scrub or rub the fabric as this could cause further damage.
Mix a solution of warm water and mild liquid detergent in a basin. The amount of detergent will depend on the size of the stain. Make sure the solution is not too sudsy because suds can be harmful to silk.
Before applying solution to stained area, test it on a small, inconspicuous part of fabric. This will allow you to make sure solution won't cause any further damage.
If the solution is safe to use on fabric, soak stained area for 15 minutes. After this, carefully blot the area with a clean cloth until most of the stain has been removed.
Once stain has been blotted, rinse the area with cold water. Do not wring the fabric or use hot water as this can lead to further damage.
Finally, let the fabric air-dry or gently dab with a clean cloth. Avoid using a machine dryer as this can damage fabric and set stain.
